Hoppy Easter!

Easter weekend was pretty simple around here. Kayden had an Easter parade and egg hunt on Friday, so Emery and I joined him at school. Kayden had a blast... Although he didn't get a lot of eggs because he figured out they opened, so every time he picked one up he had to open it. It was cute.

Easter Sunday we went over to Brett's to enjoy some food and visit with some of his family. Matt, Andrea, Marcia, and her friend Laurie all come up. We grill hamburgers, played with bubbles, little miss got passed around and we even dyed Easter eggs with shaving cream and food coloring. It was messy but Kayden loved it!!

Week 2

So you would think with being on maternity leave that I would have plenty of time to blog.....hahahaha I'd much rather spend my time snuggling with my little girl and enjoying nap time. Be jealous :)

Week 2:
This week my parents and sister got to come visit! Yeah for having 6 extra hands to help out with Emery, play with Kayden and cook fabulous dinners. And Kayden loved his Papa! I'm thankful for the help and the company.
Emery also had her two week checkup and the doctor says she looks absolutely perfect! We don't have to go back to the doctor until 2 months :)

Week 1

We have been home a week now and its actually gone surprisingly smoother than I imagined.

Emery is a sweet sweet baby. She is very snuggly and loves to be held. And she is normally awake a couple of times a day for almost an hour. She just sits and stares... Its nice to see her eyes and just watch her look around. Such a sweet innocent face. =) And she is great at breastfeeding. I'm so glad! Kayden never really took to it, and she is the complete opposite. I just hope that when I have to go back to work she transitions easily.

(Thankfully Brett captured this moment I thought it had been lost forever!)

Nakie baby!

Kayden has adjusted well. He has continued going to daycare which is helpful. At home he loves to hold baby sister, but he still loves to be the center of attention. Its a big adjustment becoming a big brother but with added attention and lots of love, he's doing great.

My big boy!

Silly faces!

Getting ready for school

Mom and Dad have adjusted fairly well too. Dad is back at work, but spends plenty of time playing with both kids. Mom is enjoying maternity leave, but could use a little more sleep.... Yeah I know I'm dreaming.

Home Sweet Home

Our stay at the hospital was a required 48 hours due to me not getting needed antibiotics during labor to prevent the passing of an infection to Emery. So they made us stay so they could watch her. Thankfully she is absolutely perfect and there was nothing to be concerned about. =)

First time meeting his baby

He got a doctor kit and loves to check on baby

First picture with my girl!

We had plenty of visitors in the hospital, Stephanie, Barb, Tiffany and Teresa from my work, Andrea and Reagan, OB & Lanny, Matt & Andrea, Clint & Courtney, Michele, Allison and Angie and Cory. Emery got lots of loving! Kayden also got some love, however he was still out of his comfort zone and really only wanted mom and dad.

Hanging out with Allison (3 months apart)

My view on Saturday....Sleepy daddy, cartoons for K, sleepy E

Look at the bubble gun from Clint and Courtney!! Thanks!!!

The best part of the hospital stay (other than my baby)....Oreo pie. YUM!!!

Sunday morning we were discharged and could finally go home!!! Kayden seemed excited to take his baby home, although I think he was more excited to go home himself!

Waiting to go home...

Holding baby before we go home!

Ready to go!!!!

Home sweet home with my babies!

We've settled in nicely. Emery is a great sleeper and although she found her lungs the other night, she's been a fairly easy baby. Eat, sleeps and poops! Oh and she is quite the snuggler! She could lay on your chest all day long! My sweet sweet girl.

My new snuggle bug :0)

Kayden is obsessed with his baby. He calls her baby and he loves to hold her :) Although when he's tired of holding her, he says she's heavy and gives her back. Hahaha. He also enjoys pointing out her nose, chin, mouth, eyes. He's helping get diapers and being gentle with baby. Its precious to see him with her. I couldn't ask for more from him.

Loves his baby

Overall it has been a smooth transition for all of us. I'm very thankful for everything God has blessed me with!

Meet Emery Leigh

She's here!!!!!

Little miss Emery Leigh Palmer made her grand entrance on 3/15/13 at 6:03a, weighing in at 8lb 4oz and 21in long. She is perfect in every way and has one heck of a birth story!

The Birth:
I went to bed Thursday night around 10 and slept until midnight. Then I tossed and turned until 4a. At that point my back hurt and I had a front menstrual cramp that hurt. It was painful but not a contraction. So I text Brett to let him know I'm up but don't think it's anything. He's writing reports at work.

To decrease the pain I decide to lay on the heating pad on the couch. Well that eased the pain some but made it to where I could feel contractions. I started timing them and they were fairly regular but not too painful (little did I know)....

Now it's 4:40a and I decide to start a load of laundry (yup I'm crazy) and take a shower in hopes that its false labor.
Nope. The shower only made breathing through contractions interesting. By the time I got out about 10 min later the contractions were stronger and closer together. I text Brett and let him know we need to get to the hospital (reminder my hospital is an hour away....). I call labor and delivery to let them know we're coming. Then I just walk around laboring and breathing through contractions. **Back labor sucks and I could not get comfortable!

About 5:15a Kayden woke up and came out into the living room. We snuggle on the couch for a little bit as I try to keep breathing without scaring him.

5:30a I get a really bad contraction and get up to pee. I walk into my bedroom and my water breaks! Holy crap! I decide to get into the bathtub but don't have my phone.... I yell at kayden and thankfully he brings it to me. He's scared and isn't quite sure what to do. Poor buddy. I'm in the bathtub screaming in pain. I call Brett, scream that my water just broke and he needs to get here now. Hang up, call 911.

The rest is all kind of chaos. I can now feel baby's head, 911 tries to keep me calm....hahaha. Kayden is standing at the doorway crying. Thankfully about 10 min later Brett gets home, gets kayden and goes outside to meet the paramedics. Next thing I know I've got 2 paramedics and 3 firefighters in my bathroom, Brett is somewhere with kayden. The paramedics ask me where my husband is, it's the cop you idiots! (They had no clue. They just thought he was a cop!) Then maybe 5 min later baby is crowning and I give birth in my bathtub!!!

Holy crap!! Did that just happen????!!!! Then it's off to the hospital via ambulance, deliver the placenta, Brett took kayden to daycare, and the rest was insanity. I don't remember much until about 8:30. It's a blur.

Thankfully baby and mom are both doing great. Big brother kayden has calmed down and is super curious about his baby. So we're just hanging out in the hospital here in Stillwater under observation until tomorrow. Visitors are welcome!

A crazy day yesterday! But a beautiful baby girl! Can't complain too much!
