National Police Week

May 12-18 was National Police Week. Its a week to honor, remember, and thank those first responders who put their lives on the line to protect ours. Each and every day so many make that concious choice to serve and protect.

I never truly understood the dedication it took, or the pure committment those officers have. Thankfully I have had the chance to marry a man who has taken that oath, and upholds it each and every day. Sounds of the velcro on his vest and the snaps of his belt keepers are good sounds. Seeing him in uniform I am proud. Proud of who he is, proud of what he does, and proud to call him my husband, my best friend and the father of our children. He is a great man and has a heart of gold. I'm so thankful and so lucky to have him in my life. No matter what happens between us, he will always be my best friend and the father of our children. I love you Brett. I always have and I always will.

There are lots of unknowns with the job, however you learn not to let those control your thoughts. You acknowledge it, and move on. There are times when you think about it though. We talk openly about the possibilities, but we both know things will happen for a reason. Until then, I tell him to bring his ass home every night.

One of the ways to say thank you, a group of local "badge wives" as we call ourselves, got together and made goodie bags filled with treats for all three departments in our city. It was fun to put these together and to deliver them to the stations. The officers truly enjoyed them. Now we know how many we need (a lot more than we made), so next year will be even better!

Enjoy! Love the badge wives.

For one extra special thank you, I made a sweet little plaque with the kids for Brett. Just a simple way for him to have his babies with him, and to show him that we love him and support him.

Thank you to each and every officer for what you do.
And to Brett, Thank you and I love you.
