First Week of Daycare

Our first week of daycare went semi-smoothly....
Kayden did great with the transition. He was very interested in the other babies and enjoyed playing with them. He loved listening to books being read, his teachers said he sat very quietly and just listened to the stories. It all went really well which was wonderful!!!

However, I worried that as soon as he went to daycare he would get sick..... Which is exactly what happened. After 3 days he came home and spiked a 102.7 fever :( Needless to say I called in sick on Thursday and we visited the dr. It's basically a sinus infection, so our christmas weekend was filled with amoxicillin, decongestants, and lots of cuddling. The medicine is helping, but we still have a cough.
So hopefully this week goes smoother than last. There are lots of kids out this week for vacation so he's getting alot of one on one time which is fabulous!

Daycare

Today is our first day at daycare.
With the change in semesters it has been hard to find quality at home child care. Therefore we looked at all of our options and decided it would be best for Kayden to start socializing with other babies, and become familiar with a routine.
After researching and visiting several daycares in town we decided on Kids World Learning Center. It is a very small, intimate daycare with only around 50 kids total at the facility. In the infant room there are 4 infants to 1 teacher. Right now there are 2 girls both 3months or younger and 1 boy, Luke, about 2 weeks younger than Kayden. I stayed for about 30 minutes this morning and Kayden seemed intrigued by Luke and his new surroundings. He didn't fuss or anything, just kinda looked around with big curious eyes.
I think the change will go smoothly as Kayden is so laid back. Thankfully its only a 4 day work week this week! We'll let you know how everything is going soon! =0)

Christmas is here!

Tis the season for Christmas!

Christmas is my favorite season. I love all the lights, putting up the tree, spending time with everyone and just the true meaning of the season. Our house is decorated for the season, here's a peak at the decorations...

And with presents under the tree....Kayden thought they looked like fun toys....

That's not your gift Kayden...
Helping mom wrap presents

This year we are trying two new ideas for Christmas due to the scheduling conflicts of a certain police officer. With the Janway family we are drawing names for the adults. That has been fun to know who has who and figuring out what to get. Mom Janway happened to get Brett and the gift he wanted was out of stock. So instead she shipped him some Mike & Ike's Candy and a picture of what his gift is, that way he can dream about it! HAHAHAHAHA it was hilarious!
With the Palmer family we are doing a secret santa gift exchange and just spending the afternoon together. We had our gathering yesterday and it was great! Good food, company and lots of laughter. Hopefully this can become an annual event! More pictures to come (I didn't take any....)
Now onto the actual holiday with lots of relaxation and enjoying the time off, while Brett works of course!
Here are some pictures of Kayden opening some of his gifts!
Can I open more than one?
It's a music book from Grandma!

7 months old

It has been a crazy couple of weeks at the Palmer household. Here's an update:

Thanksgiving was wonderful. We had Sarah, Paul and Katie over to our place for the weekend. We had a fabulous meal and an interesting game of monopoly. Paul flew back to Texas on Friday for business, but the rest of us enjoyed some Black Friday and Saturday shopping. Saturday was also Bedlam, in which we had a great time at tailgate! Sarah went to the game with her friends, while Katie, Kayden and I decorated the house for Christmas! And Paul and Sarah enjoyed the food and games so much, they said they would be back next year! I guess we have a new tradition :0)

This past week has been busy with catching up at work, looking at upcoming changes, and everyday life.
One of the biggest changes happening in two weeks, is that Kayden will be starting daycare. We have had two amazing babysitters, but with schedule changes next semester, Brett and I decided it would be best to get Kayden into a routine and the best way to achieve this was through daycare. I'm not thrilled about it still, but I'm hoping it will grow on me. It is a small, very personal daycare. We start on Monday December 20th, so wish us luck!

Whats going on with Kayden.... He is 7months old on today. He isnow having solid foods twice a day, loves to smile and show off his two teeth (we think there are more about to appear), he is army crawling all over the place! We definately can't leave him alone and expect him to be there when we get back, which means we need to finish baby proofing the house. And he is walking in his walker all over the house. He might walk and skip the crawling stage. Such a happy baby! He's still timid around big crowds and people he doesn't know, but once he warms up to you he's ok. He's changing each and every day and we are learning so much from him!

How did I get in here?
Daddy is fun!
Who knew a box could be so much fun?!
This is what happens when no one is looking
I'm gonna play soccer like my dadd

Trip to Michigan

Last week Kayden and I had the opportunity to travel to Michigan to visit my family! I haven't been to Michigan in almost 3 years so this trip was a long time coming. We had a wonderful time just relaxing with my family and seeing some friends. Grandma and Aunt Rebecca enjoyed showing Kayden off to everyone they knew, and I think Kayden enjoyed being the center of attention =) Kayden was also a great traveling buddy! He slept the duration of most of the flights, and if he wasn't sleeping he was eatting. So thankful! We had a great time and hope to visit again soon, this time with Brett. Here are some pictures from our trip....

6 months old!

Kayden is officially 6 months old! Woooohoooo!!!
He is growing and learning new things everyday. He rolls over, does an "army" crawl to scoot around, is doing great with solid foods, sits up unassisted, "talks" all the time, has two teeth coming in, and smiles and giggles all the time! He knows he's spoiled rotten and normally gets his way with most everything he wants. But overall he is a fabulous little guy. Everyone who spends time with him is so surprised that he is so good! He will just sit and enjoy a conversation and just wants to be a part of it all =0)

Today we had his 6mo checkup, which included 3 routine shot vaccines, 1 oral vaccine and 1 flu shot :( But our tough guy only cried until he was picked up and then he was all better!
His stats are:
Weight: 19lb 9oz - (75-90th percentile, 2lb increase)
Height: 28in (90th percentile, 2in increase)
He's right where he should be in all areas! Perfect in every way.

Soon he'll be crawling and really talking :0) We can't wait!

We have a tooth! - Updated***

Update: We actually have TWO teeth popping through!! Both of the bottom teeth are coming through! You can feel the edge of the right one and the left one is pushing through too! And now with two teeth...we have become slightly crabby. I don't blame him. Hopefully they pop through quick! =0)

Original Post:
Our first tooth is breaking through the gum!!!!! It is our right front bottom tooth. Kayden doesn't seem to be bothered with it, which is great! Once it pops through we'll get a picture so you can see our pearly whites =0) YEAH!!!

Kayden's First Haircut

Kayden was born with a gorgeous full head of hair.

Well over the past few months, his hair has lightened to a golden brown and most of it has either fallen out or become scruffy looking. He ended up with one really long patch of hair in the middle of his head.

Still adorable but with some wild and crazy hair. So last week I cut Brett's hair and we decided to give Kayden a trim. We just put on the biggest clipper and did a cute little buzz cut. It looks sooooo good now!No more crazy hair and he looks like a little gentleman =)

Like my new do??

almost 6 mo old

We are almost 6 months old...only a week away!
Kayden is definately growing big. He's getting taller and thinning out. He's soooo cute! He loves to giggle and is smiling 90% of the time. He is doing great with solid foods, his two favorites are peaches and carrots! Such a good eater =) And we know that crawling and teeth are right around the corner! We have our 6mo doctor appointment in two weeks and that will include another round of shots. And we also cut his hair for the first time tonight! He was dark headed at birth, but his hair has significantly lightened. With that some has fallen out and now he has more fuzz than his long locks, so tonight when I was giving dad a haircut, we decided to buzz Kayden's hair. He looks sooo good now! It's not super short but its perfect for him. (pics of it to come soon). And yesterday we had Kayden's 6 month pictures done by a friend of mine, Kristin Gentry. We only have a few so far, but we are super excited to see the rest!! He are the previews!

Kayden's First Halloween

Happy Halloween and Boo!!
Yesterday was Kayden's first halloween, and we decided not to go trick or treating as he's too young for candy (although I'm sure dad would have helped it disappear ;)). However we wanted to dress him up in a simple costume so he could have a little fun. After several weeks of looking at costumes and debating we finally decided on one!! A Jailbird!!! Since dad's a cop we thought it was only fitting =) I was even able to make the costume myself :) Here are some pictures of him all dressed up!

JAIL SUCKS!!

Swings

Yesterday, my sister Katie and I decided to take Kayden to the park. The weather was perfect, the playground was quiet and we had a blast! Kayden got to swing in the baby swing all by himself, which he LOVED!!! He giggled and squealed the whole time! He also swang in the big swing with me and then went down the big kid slide. He wasn't so sure about the slide, but I'm sure that will come with time. Here are some pics from the park :)
Ready to go!

Weeeeeeee!!!!

Swinging is fun!

Can't wait to go to the park again!
