Lots going on....

Wow! This past week has been an interesting one and a super crazy one. Lets start with Kayden...

Kayden started this week with a fever.... no other symptoms. So Monday I spent the morning with him and dad spent the afternoon. Tuesday the fever continued, so we visited the dr. She said nothing else was wrong so she thought it was probably just a virus. So I spent all day Tuesday with him, since Brett had to work. Wednesday morning the fever had finally gone away, but we decided to keep him home just to be safe. Brett had him all day. The fever stayed away all day, so this morning he went back to school!!! I think he was just as excited as we both were! He is definately a handful when he's fussy and doesn't feel good. But we both got some great cuddle time with our little buddy :0)

Kayden didn't eat alot when he was sick, so we ended up waking up at 4am Tuesday morning and he was hungry....so we shared some cheeto puffs at 4am with daddy
(sorry its so dark, I didn't want the light on because I was tired!)

Like the face? hahahaha

Brett spent Tuesday at Intoxilizer school. He had to take the class in order to use the equipment when taking a drunk subject to jail. And he passed!!! He is officially Intox certified. Super awesome! Now he's ready to have some fun tonight! (he's been off for 4 nights)

Kayden and I spent Saturday at a baby shower for my friend Andrea! She's due in 5 weeks! Kayden was the spotlight of the party. He just ran around the whole time and stole the attention. And then Tuesday I started Grad school!!!!! I'm super excited to be finally starting my Masters, and have been please so far with the online system. Only 18 months to go and I'll have an MSA and can take the CPA exam! Lets go!

So as you can see its a busy life at the Palmer household, but its always fun! :0)

Boo Boo

We were walking to the car yesterday and Kayden tripped and face planted on the sidewalk. It was sad, but after a couple of minutes we were fine. Now we have a scrap on our cheek and nose. I'm sure this is the first of many to come....

Dinosaur Quilt

So with Kayden switching to a day bed, he's outgrown the baby animal theme. So he has a height chart that has dinosaurs on it, and I thought it would make the perfect theme for his new big boy room. The colors are very boyish, and he loves the dinosaurs.

The height chart

So I got the crazy idea of making a quilt.....I've never made a quilt in my entire life, this should be interesting. I sketched it out, decided how big I wanted it, made 15 trips to hobby lobby for fabric, thread, buttons, etc., purchased a sewing machine and was super gung-ho to finish this project. I was determined to make this work! Come to find out quilting is much harder than I ever imagined and Brett actually knew more quilting terms than I did!!!

Step one....piece it all together.... looks good so far

Then I added color onto the dinosaurs....

Then after several stitches and un-stitching, screaming fits, the bobbin running out of thread, the quilt actually came together. This is what it looks like before the final border....

THE FINISHED PRODUCT!!!
Whew! It finally came together and I think it looks great! Its super warm, perfect size for Kayden's bed and he loves the dinosaurs. He like to play with the buttons on it.

And here is the big boy with his big boy bed and new quilt!

So glad its done! I don't think I'll make another one for a long time!

BBQ baby

Kayden has quite the personality, and he definately knows that he's the only  child. He seems to know what he wants, when he wants, how he wants....and he will throw the biggest hissy fit if he doesn't get his way. (I thought the terrible two's didn't start until he was 2??? We are only 14 months!!!) His little tantrums start when you take away something that he wants. He will fight you, but the second you have control of the object he throws himself on the floor and screams! Oy vey! Its funny to watch, but can get a little old. Quite the little turd....

But he is cute the other half of the time. He loves to just giggle and have fun. He is always coming up with something new. We play peek-a-boo, read books, play outside with the water table, play trucks, he's a good shopping buddy, he loves sno cones (definately my child) and is truly a blessing.

The other night we were just hanging out in the living room and Kayden started re-arranging the movies. He took them from the movie shelf in the corner and placed them on the entertainment center. He was sooooo proud of himself!

Happy 4th!

We had a great three day weekend, despite the ridiculous 100degree weather!
Saturday, we hung out in Stillwater and went to Boomer Blast. Mommy worked a little bit, but we had fun watching the wakeboard competition and running around the park.

Sunday, we visited Rob and Casey to see baby Bennett! She is adorable! The new family is doing well and slowly adjusting to having a baby. It was so good to see all three of them! Kayden was super intrigued by Bennett. He kept pointing at her and would walk over to whoever was holding her and just watch. It was super adorable. I think the two of them will have lots of play dates in the future! And since they live out in the country, we got to shoot off some fireworks! Kayden loved them! He wanted to go touch them. So we helped him hold a sparkler, which he went crazy for. So much fun!

Lets go!

Playin in the car

Can't wait to see baby Bennett!

Monday, was the actual 4th so we headed to the city to hang out at Ob and Lanny's house! They were ready for us to visit, they had a swimming pool, sprinkler and lots of toys! We had a great time. Kayden splashed in the pool, and then when Alex and Adyson got there we hooked up the sprinkler and played some more! I think we were all worn out by the end (the adults more so than the kids). Then add in some great food, good conversation and it was perfect. After dinner we all headed downtown to watch the fireworks show. We got to watch them from on top of Greg's office. Perfect view...I think we honestly watched like 10 different fireworks shows! A great ending to the day.
