Growth Spurt

The little guy is having a growth spurt!
Yesterday, Kayden cried all the way to the babysitters (15-20 min car ride). I was able to get him back to sleep before I left, which was good. Then I texted the babysitter at 9:30a and asked how he was doing. She said he woke up and just cried and cried and finally went back to sleep. I told her to text me if he did it again and I would come get him. 10 min later.....he did it again. Oy vey! This might make for a long day! I left work and went to get Kayden and he fussed on the way home, and then just wanted to sleep and snuggle ALL day. Of course I didn't mind having the day off and spending it snuggled with my little man. But he was unusually fussy and was eating like a horse! After doing a little research I have discovered that it is most likely a growth spurt :) Whew! Most babies have a growth spurt at 3 months and we are just a few weeks shy of that but its not uncommon to have them early. And during a growth spurt babies are fussy, tired and eat all the time. Perfect description of Kayden yesterday. Luckily they are only supposed to last for a couple of days. He seemed to be in a better mood this morning, so we will see if he can make it all day with Megan or if I have to go get him......

Other than yesterday Kayden is great! He's really showing his personality with his adorable smiles and noises. He hasn't quite started to coo consistently yet, but its SOOOOOO cute when he does :) We had a great visit with Grandpa OB and Grandma Lanny last week. They hadn't seen Kayden since the hospital and he has definately grown! We had a great time visiting with them and had a fabulous dinner. Thanks for coming to visit!!!

We're still looking for a babysitter. We have found an alternative at a church, however we're not sure its what we want. So we are exploring and asking around and hopefully we can find something soon!!!!!!!!! Keep your fingers crossed! We'll keep you updated!

SKYPE!!!!

Being so far away from my family and friends has been hard. However this past week, one of my friends told me to download skype. If you don't know what skype is, its a program for you computer in which you can do video calling. All you need is a web camera and a microphone (and make sure they work too!). Its perfect!!! I downloaded it and have already had two conversations, one with a friend of mine and the other with Grandma Janway and Aunt Rebecca! Why didn't someone tell me download this sooner?!?!?!!! I'm super excited about it and now it definately makes it feel like the family is soooo much closer and they can see Kayden!!! Oh I'm soooooo excited!!!

2 month checkup

Kayden is 2 months old!!!!! He is growing super fast and learning so much. It is so much fun to watch him grow and to see the changes in him. He has great head control, has super strong legs as he likes to stand up (with some assistance), he's starting to smile and coo'ing and rolling over should be around the corner (which means crawling is coming super soon!!!!)!

His 2 month checkup was yesterday and the doctor says he looks great! He's right on track with where he should be.
Here are the stats:
Height ---
2 weeks: 21 in           2 months: 24 in     BIG INCREASE
Weight ---
2 weeks: 8lb 10oz      2 months: 13lb 13oz
He is in the 90th percentile for both height and weight, which means he is tall for his age and a little big for his age, but he's healthy and growing like a weed!
He did have to get his first round of immunizations at this checkup. That consisted of 3 shots and an oral vaccine. He actually did really good! The nurse had the shots done in 10seconds (she was AWESOME!) and then he cried for maybe a minute. He was a tough guy! He was a little fussy last night which was expected but this morning he was back to his cheerful little self!

And the bad news of the week is that we have to fnd a new babysitter. Our current babysitter Megan is still in school and she officially has to go all 5 days this fall, which means we have to replace her :( Big bummer..... Hopefully it all works out soon!! Anyone want to take care of two adorable little guys starting August 2? We're accepting applications!

All Smiles

This weekend Kayden and I went to the lake with my friend Andrea. We took a picnic lunch, layed out in the sun, and floated on the lake for the afternoon. Kayden really likes the water, once he gets past the initial cold of it. He just chilled on both Andrea and me and floated with us. Although it was quite a balancing act trying to maintain balance on the floater, while holding a baby and an umbrella to shade him. Too bad the camera wasn't water proof...

And Kayden was just in a super good mood this weekend and is really starting to show his personality! He rolled onto his side, so I think rolling over is coming soon... He's making new noises, so I think he's about to start talking... And he was all smiles!!!! I got a ton of them on film too!!! So here is Kayden's photo shoot!

We have our two month checkup on Wednesday....so we'll let you know how big we've grown! And hopefully our shots won't hurt too much...

Welcome Jacob!

My best friend Kim was due July 16 with a baby boy. It was fun to be pregnant together! We were 8 weeks apart and both with boys :)

2 pregnant mommas!

So I have anxiously been awaiting a text message saying he was here........and Friday morning he came!!!!

Kim and Mike and Big Sister Kaitlyn welcomed Jacob Daniel Fulkerson at 8:10a July 9 weighing 6lb 14oz and 19in long.

Brett and I went and visited the family on Friday evening. The whole family is doing great, especially Kim who did the birth naturally! Kudos to Kim!! Jacob is precious and super cute. And Kim already had him dressed in a baseball outfit, so I'm sure our little boys will enjoy many days of sporting events together!

There will come a day when Kayden thinks that Police Officers are cool and he has the coolest dad around! And I'm sure there will be a day when he hates the fact that his dad is a cop. Until then its pretty fun to go visit daddy at work :)

Happy 4th!

We hope you all had a great 4th of July! We were excited to go watch fireworks Sunday evening, however due to the rain they were cancelled and postponed until Labor Day....oh well.
