Running a fever....

So I was hoping this weekend would be uneventful, quiet and relaxing....WRONG! Saturday, Kayden was acting fussy and by noon we had developed a fever. Oh joy. So then begins the tylenol/ibuprofen regimin, naked baby and whining. Here is what we looked like on Saturday....

Poor little guy...

Sunday....still have a fever. Continue tylenol/ibuprofen, more whining, but still wanted to play.

Playing outside

Snuggled with dad (Dad didn't sleep good either!)

End of day 2 with a fever...

Monday....Yup you guessed it! We STILL have a fever! Yikes! I couldn't take off, so I just brought the little guy to work with me! He did fairly good, considering he had to behave. But he and Miss Lindsey had fun together.

Dot Markers

Is it nap time yet??? Thank goodness for smart phone fun!

We saw the dr Monday afternoon....its just the cold thats going around. We were doing everything right. We just added a cold medicine to the regimin.

Tuesday......and the verdict is???

NO FEVER!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!! The fever is gone, the cough and congestion are still around, but at least we can go back to school and acting like our normal little self! Woooohoooo!!!!!

My silly boy

I swear, sometimes I have the SILLIEST little boy in the world!!! He cracks me up daily with the simplest things! Its interesting how as we get older things don't seem as funny anymore, but with little kids they make you see things from a whole new perspective! Lets see what we've been up to this week....

Over the weekend we went shopping with Cara and Easton. Let me tell you, two little boys under the age of four, two adults (that seemed to have very little control), no nap (for any of us) and shopping....By the end of the day, Cara and I were exhausted! We had a ton of fun, and the boys do so well together!

Playing on the iphone while someone tries on clothes.....

Then Monday....I had the crazy idea of buying a new car. I guess when you play your cards right, good things happen! aka....we signed the paperwork Monday on a new Durango!

The rest of this week was ok....Tuesday I had to work late, which meant that Kayden had to come to work with me. So to entertain him.....we made mustache fingers!!!!

HE LOVED IT!!!!

Last night, was supposed to be haircut night....however halfway through cutting dad's hair, the razor died. Thankfully dad is patient enough and we finished his hair the hard way, but little man got to keep his little curl!

Look at that precious curl!

And then we enjoyed an evening with the little crazy man.....Vidoes will explain :)

Bathtime silliness!
(Mom....I proofed this video online, so no worries this time!!!)

Weekends are so much fun!!!

I love the weekends, no work, no rules, no time limits, just me and my little guy. This weekend was just that.

Friday night we went to dinner with Cara and Easton, always a good time :) Kayden and Easton do great together, and its cute how they want to do the exact same things! Its precious.
And when we got home daddy was playing xbox....until Kayden took over!

All ready for bed!!!

Saturday we just hung out at home, we worked on Cara's birthday present, took a nap, played outside, and just had fun!!

Cheesin

Not sure this is comfortable, but I'm not touching him...he's asleep!!!

And at the end of the day Kayden was going crazy!!!! I was attempting to was Miss America, and as soon as the talent competition came on, Kayden stopped in his tracks and STARED at the tv. Not sure if thats a good thing or bad, but it was cute!

Sunday we got up and went to church! Something was telling me to go, so we got ready and went, and I am so glad we did! The message was absolutely perfect, it could not have spoken to me more. The phrase of the sermon was: "better to have one hand filled with tranquility, than two with toil and chasing after the wind." The pastor also went on to say that one is good, but two is not always better. The examples he gave of debt, cars, houses, and life were eye opening. The other quote "its better to have less of what doesn't matter and more of what does" made me think alot. It really put into perspective what Brett and I truly want for our lives and for Kayden. Not what everyone else wants or what society says we have to have, but what we want and what will make us happy. I think there will be some BIG changes up ahead for us, and I can't wait to just follow our hearts.
The rest of the day was spent enjoying the beautiful weather and relaxing. And we ended the day with our favorite.....a bubble bath!

How did these bubbles get all over me?

Get them off mom!!!

I didn't say take another picture, I said get the bubbles OFF!

He loves his bubble bath, but doesn't like the bubbles on him....silly boy!

Thoughts....

Here are my thoughts today...

So I absolutely LOVE our new daycare. Its warm and inviting, and Kayden loves it there (after I'm out of sight). It just so cute! He eats well, takes a great nap, and is always smiling when I pick him up from school. Each morning when I drop him off its one of two things: he clings to me until I pass him to his teacher screaming and I walk out the door OR he goes right into his classroom with a smile and starts playing. I'm a super proud mom when he goes in like a big boy, but at the same time I miss him clinging to me and wanting to spend more time with me. And even when he's clinging to me I wish he would go smoothly because its hard on me to walk away and not comfort him. Such mixed emotions. But every time I leave I know that I can log in and see him on camera, and every once in a while his teacher will text me pictures....It makes my day!

Playing with Shaving cream!

Then at the end of the day its always cute to see what this little man wants. He usually wants me to hold him while he gets his milk and then I put him to bed. Last night I tried to make Brett do it....Kayden didn't let that one happen. And now that Brett is on nights, Kayden is used to me putting him back to bed when he gets up. Here's a funny story...
Well the other night was Brett's first night off on nights and he stays up at night to keep his body on a sleep schedule. Well when he's home he shuts my door so I can sleep and he agrees to take care of Kayden. Here's how the other night went: Somewhere around 2am Kayden woke up, I heard him fuss but knew Brett was there to take care of him, so I rolled over. Then I hear Kayden bang on my door, which made him made that he couldn't get in. So he goes screaming into the kitchen, his bedroom, and who else knows where (it seriously sounded like he was getting beat!) Then I hear Brett pick him up and say "Kayden its daddy, its ok, its daddy". Yeah....Kayden wasn't having any of it! So at this point I'm up and I come out of the bedroom walk towards them, say "come to mama", Kayden fights off dad to come to me and then we went back to bed.
Its funny how Kayden knows what he wants and will do almost anything to get it. He's a pain in my rear, but the light of my life. I love my little man!!!

Where does the time go?

I swear there needs to be more time in the day....or I just need to be more organized (not sure which one will happen first! hahaha)

We're still here and still just living life! Kayden is doing good at his new school, he's adjusting well and I'm loving it! Brett is back on night shift, which works great for us, and I'm ready for a change (long story). But Kayden is keeping us busy and he's a turd. Here's what he's been up to....

Kayden and daddy are sharing pretzels...

this picture was totally not staged, I just took it at the right time!!! Sooooo cute!

We had ice cream with Cara....

Yeah Ice Cream!!!!

That was tasty!

Hanging out with Jacob at the mall....(Kaitlyn didn't want her picture taken)

Kayden fell asleep on me and started snoring....sooo sweet.

And the incriminating picture of the day is.....
While painting my toe nails last night, Kayden put his foot up for me to paint.....why not? Its just paint and comes off! hehehehehehehe

January 1

Welcome to 2012!!!

Here's how our day went....

We attempted to go to church (that didn't happen) so we played around the house...

Who doesn't love playing in a laundry basket?

You can't find me!

Really mom?

Then we played outside, and then back in to clean up the house some. I happened to put his little couch on top of his table to vaccum and this is what happens....

I guess he really want to sit on his couch!

Then we made a quick trip to Walmart.....where someone got the coolest toy ever!

Like my new bike?

And of course....who doesn't love a bubble bath at the end of the day!

All warm and clean!

(notice the purple bruise on his forehead....)

Did I forget to mention that while I was showering this morning, I have no idea what he did but he fell and hit his head on the side of the bathtub. It is a decent sized goose egg and is a nice shade of purple. Guess we needed to start out the new year with a new bruise! Oh the joys of having a boy!!!

From 2011 to 2012

A lot can change in a year, especially with a little one. This time last year we had a cute little boy almost 8 months old, who was crawling and beinging to pull himself up. He had only 2 teeth and was quite the little stinker. Now he's running all over, has 16 teeth (yikes!) and is still my little stinker. Its amazing to watch him grow and learn, he is such a sponge and absorbs sooo much! He still has a smile that melts my heart and a giggle that is completely contagious. It might be difficult to handle every once in a while and if I have to lock myself in the bathroom to shower for 20 minutes of alone time, so be it. But I wouldn't change one single minute. I absolutely LOVE being a mom and no matter who chaotic it gets or how disasterous my house may become, Kayden is my world and I would do anything for him.

Look how cute he is???!!!!

The rest of 2011 has been up and down, just like it always will be. We got to spend lots of time with our families both near and far, we made some new friends, things changed at work, we said goodbye to people we loved and welcomed new faces into the world. A little bit of everything.

No matter how challenging life may get at times, I know that I am lucky to have a husband who loves me for me, a son who brightens my world, a family who is always there for me, friends who make me laugh, and the life that God gave me to live. I'm very greatful for what I have and I know I take it for granted sometimes, but not a day goes by that I don't know how lucky I am and how thankful I am to have it.

So whats next.....2012.....
I'm looking forward to another year and another opportunity to continue on in this amazing life. Every year I, just like the majority of the world, make new years resolutions. And as with most people I tend to not always stick to those resolutions for some reason or another. But over the past couple of months I have been challenged by a blog I follow to really look inside myself and I have found that I truly want to become a better person. I want to be a better wife, mother and person. So for 2012 I'm setting out these guidelines to follow:
1. Attend church twice a month (its not always easy to get up and get going with a toddler)
2. Find my patience (too many times I let my short fuse get the best of me and no one deserves that)
3. Achieve high grades in my master's program (this is something that I really want and I want to prove to myself that I can do it!)
4. Obtain a job in the accounting field (gotta put that masters program to work)
5. Take a family vacation (we've been putting this off for far too long, and we need it, we deserve it)
6. Become healthier (not only loose the extra baby weight I still have, but incorporate healthier foods into our lifestyles)
7. Pray more (I need to let go of more things  and let god)
8. Smile more
9.  Move (whether it be Edmond or Colorado, its time to get out of this town and follow our heart not our mind)
10. Love unconditionally

I'm looking forward to a year full of ups, downs, twists and turns, because without all of that it wouldn't be life. Thats what makes life perfect, the moments when its not.

Happy 2012 Everyone!!!
