Opthamologist

Yesterday we went and saw a Pediatric Opthamologist, Dr. Groves. Kayden has had a blocked tear duct in his left eye since birth, which is very common. Our regular pediatrician said it would most likely clear up on its own. Well at our 4 month checkup she noticed that it was still goo'ing up pretty good and that his left eye lid was a little droopy. So she referred us to Dr. Groves just to get it all checked out.
Our original appointment with him was in late October, however we asked to be put on the waiting list just incase....and yesterday at noon they called for an opening at 3p! Guess we're making a trip to Tulsa!

Dr. Groves was wonderful!! They dialted Kayden's eyes, and Dr. Groves did a full eye exam. He said Kayden has extremely healthy eyes. The droopyness of the eye lid he said should most likely take care of its self, so no worries there. If it becomes a problem we will talk, but that would include surgery. No thank you!
As for the blocked tear duct, he said he could perform a simple procedure in office and pop the membrane that is blocking the tear duct. We went ahead and had him do the procedure (Brett and I both left the room....hahahaha). Kayden did fabulous!! Dr. Groves said he has a 75% success rate with this procedure, so we are hopeful that it worked. It already looked better this morning! And Kayden was back to his normal self after a nap on the car ride home!!

And the picture of the day.......
There's a new sherrif in town! (I think Brett may be out of a job!)

Solid Foods

At our 4 month check up we were given the go ahead to try solid foods. So step one was get out the high chair and see how he likes it.
I'm ready to eat!!

Kayden had already had some rice cereal in his bottles, but he never really liked it so we tried it in actual cereal form....
I think its safe to say he didn't like it very much.

So then we decided to try applesauce.....
It went a little better than the rice, but not much. We'll keep trying!

Until then we'll stick to bottles, which Kayden is learning how to hold! When we fix a bottle we show it to Kayden and say whats this? He looks, reaches both hands out and grabs onto the bottle and attempts to put it in his mouth. It really is the cutest thing!
almost there....
Got it!

And Kayden is also watching Brett and I very closely and he wants to do what we do. Mainly eat and drink. If we pick up a cup and he's in our arms he tries to grab the cup and put it in his mouth. Last night we had ice cream and Kayden saw it as a cup that he wanted to put in his mouth. So in order to keep him quiet....
He licked the side of the cup while I ate.
You gotta do what you gotta do!

4 months old!

Woooohooo!!! We are officially 4 months old this past Monday! Kayden is definately growing up and its so much fun to watch him learn new things. You can watch him learn every day! He is rolling over from his back to belly, coo's and giggles all the time, he knows what a bib means...when he's hungry you can put the bib on and he realizes that he's about to eat, he is starting to recognize what a bottle is...if you show it to him he will reach for it and try to put it in his mouth...soooo cute!, he is starting to sleep through the night (yeah!!!!!!!) and is really starting to play with his toys. Its so much fun watching him grow every day. Its amazing how much he learns each day.

Yesterday was Kayden's 4 month checkup. The dr says he looks great and is impressed with how much he has grown!
Official stats:
Weight: 17lb 10oz (90th percentile)
Height: 26in (75-90th percentile)
He got another round of immunizations which he did great with. A little bit of tylenol and he was back to his normal little self!

I'm 4 months old!

Labor Day Weekend

Wow! Its already September, and before you know it it'll be Christmas and 2011!
Kayden is fun little man to have around. He definately keeps things interesting and is learning more and more each day. He is starting to play with toys or anything he can get in his mouth, he is big into chewing things lately.....fingers, toys, his entire fist...mom and dad's fingers....its cute. He has also figured out how to roll from his back onto his belly!! As wonderful as this accomplishment is, its also becoming frustrating. Kayden is not a fan of being on his belly, so when he flips himself over at night he sleeps just fine but if he wakes up to find out that he is on his belly...mom is notified. aka....we are waking up at least 3 times a night (only 1 time to feed, but the other two are due to rolling over). Lets hope he starts to like being on his belly soon or figures out how to roll back over, mom's tired!

This past weekend was jam packed with activities for little man. Friday night we got to watch fireworks!!! Stillwater was rained out on 4th of July so they postponed their fireworks until Labor Day. The weather was perfect so we all enjoyed a beautiful fireworks dispaly! Kayden didn't seem too impressed, but he did great!
Kayden waiting for the fireworks to begin

We also tailgated Saturday and went camping on Sunday. Kayden is a good travel buddy and he doesn't seem to mind really anything (except for the heat). And he always finds a spot to nap....

I think he kinda likes camping.....

And the best part of the weekend was Kayden's new toy....a walker!! He loves to stand up so we decided to get him a walker so he can stand up, play and maybe start cruising around the house. Kayden loves it!

Check out my new JEEP!

Get out of my way old lady!

Darn it! Another red light!

We hope you all had a great weekend!! Come visit us soon or skype date?
Love, Kayden, Brett & Rachel
